JAMS Music is excited to have Oxana Nero teaching piano to students of all ages at our store. Since moving to the United States in 2004, Oxana has provided private piano lessons based on strong classical methods, introduced her students to improvisation techniques and theory, and prepared them for MTAC tests, recitals, music festivals and nation wide competitions. Her specialty is fostering high-performance results with youths 5-18 years of age but also instructs adults.
Before immigrating to the United States, Oxana taught full time at the Children’s Harmony School in Russia for 15 years.Oxana is a very articulate instructor, and deeply interested in achieving results with her students. She administers a detailed framework of her lesson plans and students’ progress reports, plus tailors her instruction to an individual’s interests in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Her history of successful instruction and stage creations with children, has given recipients a profound sense of the benefits and excitement of becoming a musician.
In addition to private lessons, Oxana offers unique semi-private piano lessons in a personalized and multimedia setting. Semi-private rhythmic lessons are available for students age 4-6. The lessons are designed for small groups of 2-4 pupils, and include a variety of activities. Benefits include enlightening participants to the rewarding world of music, including an introduction to basic piano skills. After completion, youngsters will have skills to optionally move into other instrument disciplines.
With more than 22 years of teaching experience, she earned her Diploma of Piano with the Children’s Music School and earned the ranking of an accompanist by attending the 4-year Kurgan Regional Music College in Russia, and later the Chelyabinsk Academy of Culture. She is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAS) as a professional instructor of piano. She also assists in staging plays and recitals, preparing performers for regional competitions, and served as accompaniment to students’ choir, vocal and ballet groups. She has also performed with Women’s Vocal Quartets and Church Choir.

Kelley Hunt has many years of experience teaching trumpet, trombone, and French horn to students of all ages and skill. Her positive attitude and encouragement boosts the confidence of entry level players, and she takes pride in helping young band students develop their musicianship and become better players.
Kelly graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from Cal State University, East Bay.While her passion lies with the trumpet and horn, she proficient with all brass instruments. In addition to teaching, Kelley routinely plays in various musical theater groups, and is member of numerous brass ensembles and orchestras throughout the Bay Area.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jessica Rugani traces her musical development from an early interest in piano, to a focus in clarinet and woodwind performance, as well as music composition. She earned degrees in music composition from New England Conservatory (M.M. 2011) and California State University East Bay (B.A. 2006).
Jessica has long been interested in music instruction, both individual and in the classroom. She taught private music lessons in the Bay Area for nearly ten years to students aging from 5 to adult, on clarinet, saxophone, flute, bassoon, piano, and composition. Each lesson is tailored specifically to a student’s needs and ability level. She is also a lecturer for the music department at CSU East Bay’s Concord Campus.
Compositionally, Rugani has written for varying ensembles, from the unusual bowed piano ensemble to the more traditional full orchestra, as well as much chamber music. A recent commission by Mary Matthews entitled To Laugh Often and Much (2013) for flute and piano was premiered at the National Flute Association convention in August.
Jessica has worked with members of the San Francisco Symphony and the Kronos Quartet, and studied composition with Robert Carl and Michael Gandolfi, as well as clarinet with Diane Maltester and Joel Jaffe. She currently lives in Dublin with her husband while she completes her doctoral dissertation at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School.
