Thursday, Nov 15th, 2018 at 7:00pm to 8:30pm
This is a one-night 90 minute workshop on Thursday, November 15th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm led by JAMS Music Guitar Instructor, Steve Smyth. $25 pre-paid cash or check at JAMS Music, or $30 the night of the event. Space limited to 15 students.
Bring your electric guitar and any relevant material you might have questions on. A guitar amp and cable is not necessary. Lesson material will be provided.
Steve’s long career as a teacher, touring musician, and recording artist is full of tips and ideas to become a better guitar player and overall musician. Songs used used will be in the classic rock vein, from the 1960s and 70s eras onward. This gives you a great opportunity to learn in an group environment but with enough one-on-one attention to gain valuable skills to incorporate in your playing.
The first half of the class will cover the basics of the guitar including, parts, maintenance, chords and scales, and
songs will be learned within the first class, with the goal of gathering a repertoire
that will ultimately be used in live performance.
The second part will focus on more advanced methods including chords and scales, and lead guitar improvisation. Chord progressions used in rock music will explore styles of certain eras of rock music.
