Mike DiVita

A new, awesome trumpet/high brass teacher named Mike DiVita has joined our team!

Mike Divita is a retired middle school band and orchestra director with 27 years of teaching experience in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. He received both his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and his Single-Subject Music teaching credential from California State University Hayward (East Bay). Mike studied trumpet with Jay Rizzetto and conducting/music pedagogy with Tim Smith.

Mike offers lessons on trumpet, french horn, trombone, and baritone/euphonium.
Mike’s pedagogical approach focuses on building a solid foundation and preparing the developing musician to be successful in their musical endeavors. Emphasis is placed on the care and feeding of the instrument, tone production, learning Standard Music Notation, and music theory. In addition, the student will develop a practice routine, learn various genres, play etudes, solos, and duets, and more!

Mike requests an hour long first lesson to allow time to get to know each other, establish benchmarks, set goals, and actually play. A parent is encouraged to sit in for the first part of this lesson. Subsequent lesson are weekly 30 minute sessions, but can be longer 45-60 minute lessons based on the student’s age, need, and ability.
